Joining the Strategy, Marketing and Communications Team will put you in the centre of a wide range of exciting communications projects

As part of the team you will take a lead role in enhancing the City’s brand and reputation to help Council and the organisation meet their strategic objectives. You will be responsible for helping tell the City’s story by developing and delivering internal and external communications, and liaising with media and key stakeholders. From creating media releases and responses, to writing speeches for the Mayor and other members of the leadership team, to contributing to a raft of regular and one-off projects where creative thinking, high calibre communications skills are required. You will develop relationships with the City’s leadership teams across the City’s business units to identify communication priorities that will deliver successful outcomes.

Creating content for a variety of digital and traditional channels for both external and internal projects, you will support the consistent promotion of the City’s brand as the place “where the coast comes to life”, and the fulfilment of the community’s vision of a quality lifestyle, a sustainable future.

You must have an excellent track record in delivering strategic content through storytelling and have excellent communication and influencing skills.   

As the Communications Officer you will establish, nurture and maintain professional working partnerships both internally and externally and must be confident dealing with the media, community and all levels of government.

You must address the following selection criteria when submitting your online application:

  1. A brief summary of your experience in media and corporate communications – are there any campaigns you are particularly proud of?
  2. Experience in dealing with major media outlets and journalists
  3. Ability to build collaborative and consultative relationships, across all levels of an organisation and with external stakeholders
  4. Confirm your tertiary qualification, including date of conferral.

We are offering a gross full-time salary of $88,929 per annum and: 

  • 11% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
