Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our innovative City Projects department. In this role, you will deliver high-quality infrastructure investigations, expert advice, and design services across various engineering disciplines, including civil, geotechnical, structural, hydraulic, and environmental.
You will collaborate with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary design team to drive the successful delivery of projects and strategies that benefit both the team and the broader city.
This exciting role will:
- Plan, manage and execute geotechnical and contamination site investigations of engineering problems.
- Provide professional engineering advice to Council staff, including advice as part of: investigation and design of engineering problems, contract and tender documentation, construction management, legal representation, and business improvement activities
- Applying knowledge and experience in geotechnical investigation and design of pavements, retaining walls and foundations
- Develop concept options to manage complex engineering problems
- Manage projects in accordance with Council’s project management system.

Our ideal candidate will excel when it comes to technical ability. You are proficient in applying innovative engineering and environmental practices and understand the importance of relationship building through your strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. You will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results for our community.
Specifically, you will have:
- Qualification in an Engineers Australia Accredited Engineering degree (Civil, Structural, or Environmental), or final year of studies with associated experience in a relevant field
- Eligible for admission as an Undergraduate / Graduate Member / Member / Chartered Engineer in the occupation category of Professional Engineer of Engineers Australia.
- Proven ability to manage a project workload, and organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in delivering
geotechnical investigations, preparing technical reports, undertaking detailed
design and providing construction phase services for geotechnical and pavement
structures across a variety of projects. - Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively
- Class C Driver’s licence.

- Competitive salary from $105,134 to $122,182 a year plus 12% superannuation
- 35 hour working week on nine-day fortnight with hybrid work model
- Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range
