Our Finance Team play an important role in the ongoing and strategic financial management of the Burwood LGA to ensure we continue to be a progressive and innovative Local Council and we can provide our community with the highest levels of support, services and facilities for all to enjoy.

An exciting part-time opportunity has become available and we are looking for an experienced, switched on and progressive Finance Officer to perform our vast range of transactional and reconciliation functions across Council. This includes performing our accounts payable, accounts receivable and rates functions. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high volume environment and prides themselves on providing the highest levels of customer service in every interaction.

Your Key Responsibilities include and will not be limited to:

  • Performing accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Managing our rates database, including 603 certificates, notices of sale, change‑of‑address updates, and other customer requests
  • Handling credit card processing, daily bank imports, and receipting
  • Supporting daily, monthly, and end‑of‑year finance reconciliations
  • Assisting with debt management activities
  • Delivering high‑quality customer service for all AP, AR, and Rates enquiries
  • Performing additional finance duties as required
  • Support the Finance team with a range of other projects, tasks and initiatives

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Certificate in an Accounting discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Finance procedures including processing and reconciliation with a computerised accounting system and skills using PC applications and spreadsheets
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy whilst achieving deadlines in a high volume work environment
  • An understanding and working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1993 and Financial regulations is desirable
  • Willingness to complete a National Police History check
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment and police check
