Environmental Health Officer
Professional expertise. Personal purpose.
As an Environmental Health Officer, you help protect public health and improve local environmental outcomes across Blacktown City. You inspect food premises, cooling towers, commercial swimming pools and on-site sewerage systems, investigate pollution complaints, and respond to public health incidents. You provide advice to businesses, residents and other stakeholders, helping keep local places and spaces clean, healthy and safe.
You develop and implement environmental health projects, policies, guidelines and programs that support Council’s environmental sustainability commitments. You assess environmental health issues, prepare reports and correspondence, deliver presentations, and contribute to community education initiatives that encourage practical action on environmental and public health matters.
Your work has a direct impact on everyday life. It helps manage environmental and public health risks, supports compliance with legislation, and contributes to a healthier, more sustainable city for our community.
You communicate clearly, write high-quality reports and correspondence, solve problems using sound judgement, and use Microsoft Office and corporate systems confidently.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,866.69 per week
- a 35-hour working week
- a leaseback vehicle
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
