The City of Perth is an ambitious Local Government. We are constantly creating opportunities to bring our state’s capital city to life.

We are seeking a Citizenship Officer to to manage and co-ordinate the citizenship process and the city’s civic and ceremonial events and services including assistance with event operation and management, and support protocol and procedural advice to the Lord Mayor, Elected Members and City if Perth employees as required.

This position will support the City by:

  • Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and creative aspects of council hosted city events.
  • Plan and coordinate the City’s citizenship process to a high standard as expected of a Capital city
  • Liaise with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Electoral Commission and other relevant stakeholders as required to facilitate the citizenship process.
  • Jointly with the Civic Officer, plan and coordinate civic and ceremonial events and services on behalf of the City.
  • Prepare protocol briefs for the lord Mayor or their representation and the Executive Leadership team and other City of Perth staff for civic and ceremonial events.
  • Monitor and develop quality initiatives to ensure that civic and ceremonial services undertaken by the City are of a standard expected of a capital city.
  • Ensure the safe operation of events held in City-managed spaces, adhering to relevant laws and regulations.

Essential Criteria

  1. Experience in a similar role, coordinating civic, ceremonial or comparable events.
  2. Excellent verbal & written communication
  3. Excellent project management and time management skills, including the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities.
  4. Experience working with sensitive, political and to confidential issues.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse, high pressure and fast paced work environment.
