We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Chef to join our team at Apsley Riverview Aged Care. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of our facility's Kitchen, including meal preparation, to ensure standards are met while residents’ satisfaction and nutritional requirements are achieved. This is a full time (38 hrs per week) permanent position.
The Position
This position is a hands-on role, covering the entire food journey at our facility, from supplier relations, to ordering, to meal planning, meal preparation, cooking and service. The position supervises a small high performing team dedicated to the safe, effective and efficient delivery of meals to our residents, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is nominally a Monday to Friday role, with consistent negotiable hours.
The position also completes required documentation, prepares menus, cooks standards compliant meals, orders supplies, and supervises our dedicated kitchen staff. Compliance and reporting obligations form a key responsibility of this role.
About You
You will have experience in this area of work, in particular in the provision of catering in the Aged Care sector and be able to consistently deliver high quality and high standard meals to our residents. You will ensure the residents dietary needs are met and be able to deliver special meals as required. You will be able to lead a small team and provide training and encouragement to help them meet our high requirements. Your planning skills will be useful to prepare plans and budgets, and you will be able to work within budgetary limitations. You will liaise with the Facility Manager, contribute to our continual improvement programs and refinements to our processes. You will hold at least a Certificate lV in Kitchen Management, or a similar qualification and at least 3 years of experience working as a Chef. A Diploma level qualification in Kitchen Management or Hospitality Management and relevant experience in an Aged Care Facility, will be highly preferred.
You will work in accordance with individual care plans, organisational policies and the Aged Care Code of Conduct, NDIS Code of Conduct and the values of the facility.
What we Offer
This is a permanent full-time position. The position falls under the regulatory Instrument of the Local Government, Aged, Disability & Home Care (State) Award 2018 and the range of salary will be between $77,000.00 p.a. to $82,000.00 p.a. based on your previous experience and skills.
