Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking enthusiastic and safety-focused Pool Lifeguards to join our Leisure Services Team across our four Swim Centres for the upcoming summer season.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patrons through proactive supervision, emergency response, customer service and facility operations. What you'll do

  • Provide constant surveillance of pool users and water bodies to ensure a safe swimming environment.
  • Respond to emergencies, incidents and rescues in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote safe and enjoyable use of facilities through the application of centre rules and regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patrons, community members and stakeholders.
  • Assist with cashiering duties, water testing, cleaning and general facility maintenance.
  • Maintain current lifesaving, first aid and resuscitation skills.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture focused on safety, service and continuous improvement.

As part of this recruitment process shortlisted candidates will be required to participate in a practical water and fitness assessment designed to evaluate swimming ability, rescue and resuscitation skills, fitness levels and endurance.

We are looking for confident communicators who enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life. You will be approachable, professional and proactive, with a strong awareness of your surroundings and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in a range of situations.

You take pride in maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and customer service, using your vigilance and preventative approach to identify potential risks before they become incidents. Most importantly, you are committed to creating a positive, safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons while contributing to a supportive and high-performing team environment.

What you bring

  • Current RLSS NSW Pool Lifeguard Licence (or equivalent)
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
  • Current Paid Working with Children Check
  • Class C Driver's Licence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water scanning and surveillance techniques
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Certificate II or III in Community Recreation (Aquatic Pool Operations) or equivalent
  • Previous experience working within a swim centre or aquatic facility.
