Georges River Council operates five early learning services at Beverley Hills, Carss Park, Oatley West, South Hurstville and Penshurst. Our centres support around 400 children, with enrolments continuing to grow.

About the Position

  • Employment type: Casual
  • Location: Beverley Hills, Carss Park, Oatley West, South Hurstville and Penshurst
  • Hours: Flexible shifts between 6.50am and 6.10pm (as required)
  • Salary: $34.00 per hour + 25% casual loading + 12% superannuation

We are looking for Casual Early Childhood Educators (Diploma) to join our casual pool across our five centres. This flexible role offers a variety of shifts, from single days to longer blocks, covering staff absences such as sick and annual leave.

In this role, you will create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn and grow.

You will take an active role in developing and delivering programs that support each child’s development, cultural background, and individual needs. You will also build strong relationships with families by sharing information about their child’s progress and providing guidance and support where needed.

Key focus areas include:

  • Monitor and document children’s learning and development, using this information to inform program planning
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with children and guide their behaviour, learning, and daily routines
  • Promote inclusive practices and embed social justice principles in all interactions and programs
  • Support, guide, and role model for educators, students, and volunteers through daily practice and on-the-job training
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant environment, ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Work in partnership with families, providing regular communication, support, and advice on children’s development and wellbeing

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent, as recognised under the Education and Care Services National Regulations)
  • Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management certificates (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Current Working with Children Check (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Approved Child Protection Training (NSW Department of Education)
  • Demonstrated experience working with children aged 0–5 years in a childcare setting (centre-based experience preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and the wider community
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and provide support and role modelling to others
