Tamworth Regional Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cadet Building Surveyor to join our Building Certification Team. This unique opportunity provides a structured professional development pathway designed to support your career development and progression. Working alongside experienced industry professionals, you'll gain practical experience assessing development applications, conducting site inspections, interpreting legislation and building standards, and providing technical advice to the community. You'll be exposed to a broad range of development projects across residential, commercial and industrial sectors while developing the knowledge and skills required to achieve Certifier Registration.

The Cadet Building Surveyor is responsible for:

As a Cadet Building Surveyor, you'll learn all aspects of building certification and development assessment, including:

  • Assisting with the assessment of Construction Certificates, Complying Development Certificates and Local Government applications
  • Participating in building, plumbing and development inspections under the guidance of experienced certifiers
  • Developing practical knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, planning legislation and industry regulations
  • Providing advice and support to customers, builders, architects, designers and other stakeholders
  • Contributing to safe, compliant and sustainable development outcomes across the Tamworth Region

  • Progression opportunities from Cadet Building Surveyor to Building Surveyor (Restricted), Building Surveyor (All Classes) and Senior Building Surveyor (Unrestricted)

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:

  • Be enrolled in, or eligible and willing to be enrolled in, an NVR Approved course delivering a qualification recognised in the Building and Development Certifiers Act & Regulation in order to obtain Certifier Registration
  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • Workcover OHS Induction

Salary range: Grade 9 -12 - $67,468.58 - $84,442.88 per annum plus 12% superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on applicable qualifications, skills, relevant professional experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
