This traineeship is for the term of two (2) years commencing 2026. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience while completing a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, through employment & structured training.
Working alongside experienced operators, you'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to operate and maintain Council's water and wastewater treatment facilities.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a trainee, you'll receive practical on the job training, working both indoors & outdoors, learning to:
- Assist with operation and maintenance of council water and wastewater facilities & infrastructure
- Safely operate plant and equipment
- Monitor, inspect and report on water and wastewater functions
- Work safely and effectively as part of a specialised team
- Complete Certificate III studies and other industry training
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- To be eligible and willing to undertake a Traineeship towards attaining a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations
- A Current Driver Licence (P1 & P2 manual licence is acceptable)
- High attention to detail
- Good results and/or ability in Mathematics, Science, Design & Technology and/or Industrial Technology
- A genuine interest in building a career in the water industry
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to follow instruction and work collaboratively
- Solid literacy and numeracy skill to support further study

Salary: Grade T4 –T8 - $860.50 - $1,169.90 per week plus superannuation. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
