Central Darling Shire Council
About Central Darling Shire Council
Central Darling Shire is a regional Council in Far West NSW. The Shire is about the size of Tasmania with one of the smallest Council
populations in NSW. Central Darling includes the communities of Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe, Tilpa, White Cliffs, Darnick, Sunset Strip, Copi Hollow and Mossgiel.
We are a popular tourist destination. Perfect for nature lovers, fishing and camping. Home to the Darling River, Menindee Lakes, national
parks, opal mining and plenty more underground living and more.
Visitors can download the Central Darling Shire Heritage Trail tourism app which contains historic photos, heritage stories and interviews with locals.
Wilcannia is one of the best preserved historic towns in Australia. In recent years the town has been undergoing streetscape improvements
and major economic development. This includes the completion of two regionally significant projects, being
• The $7-million Maari Ma Community Health and Wellbeing Facility.
• The $9.5 million Baaka Cultural Centre.
We know that the success Council achieves in providing services to our communities is due to the teamwork, dedication and skill of our work force.
