This series provides a unique opportunity to learn about the pathways into local government, the skills needed to succeed, and the rewarding careers that help shape and strengthen local communities.
Our upcoming session, Discover the Power of Apprenticeships in Local Government, will feature Samuel Burgess, Geotech Trainee at Wollongong City Council, and Maddison Ingram, Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic at Bega Valley Shire Council. The webinar will be hosted by Mark Elsaj, Graduate Research Officer at Local Government NSW.
Samuel and Maddison will share their unique journeys into local government apprenticeships and how these opportunities have helped them develop practical skills, gain valuable industry experience, and build rewarding careers while making a positive impact in their communities.
Samuel will discuss his transition from hospitality into civil construction, and how his apprenticeship and TAFE studies have opened doors to a career contributing to important infrastructure projects. Maddison will share how she turned her passion for mechanics into a career, working on Council’s fleet and plant equipment while learning from experienced trades professionals and developing highly sought-after technical skills.
