Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city:Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.

Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people leader to lead the Financial Control team within the City of Sydney's Financial Planning and Reporting Unit.

Beyond technical excellence, we are looking for a leader who can build capability, foster accountability and create an environment where people are empowered to take ownership and grow. You will provide clear direction, coach and develop your team, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you will provide strategic advice on financial governance, reporting and compliance matters while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • ability to balance operational delivery with strategic leadership
  • ability to step away from the detail, empower others to succeed, challenge traditional approaches and leading the team through change
  • tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline, with membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
