Preschool Educator – Room Leader

WALCHA Council is looking for an experienced and dedicated Preschool Educator - Room Leader with a passion for early childhood education. The successful candidate will oversee one of our classrooms, ensuring it is as nurturing, educational, and safe as possible for each and every child in our care. This is a full-time position commencing in line with term 4 (12 October)

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee daily operation of your assigned room, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
2. Develop and implement educational programs proportional to children's learning capacities.
3. Perform ongoing assessments of the children's learning and development.
4. Facilitate communication between children, parents, and staff.
5. Monitor children's progress, identifying any potential learning, behavioral, or developmental issues and addressing them promptly and appropriately.
6. Create a warm, supportive, and welcoming environment for children and their families.
7. Provide direct supervision to children during meals and structured learning times.
8. Maintain regular and open communication with Nominated Supervisor.
9. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and maintain a high level of children's care standards.
10. Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
11. Undertake responsibility of the Educator Leader and/or Responsible Persons and/or 'Person in day-to-day charge' on a rotational basis

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
2. Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and CPR certificates.
3. A minimum of 3 years of experience in an early childhood setting preferably with some leadership experience.
4. Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
5. Strong knowledge of Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS), with the ability to link observations, analysis and reflection.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
8. Ability to work in a team and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive culture.
9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
10. Child Protection, Identify & Respond to Children at Risk (CHCPRT025)

Salary is to be determined by experience and qualification levels in line with the Local Government (State) Award 2026.
