Engineering Cadet (Casual)

About the role:

Are you currently studying Civil Engineering and looking to gain practical, hands-on experience while contributing to projects that improve road safety and transport outcomes for the community?

The Hills Shire Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Cadet to join our Traffic and Roads Management Team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your studies in a professional environment while working alongside experienced traffic and civil engineering professionals. This casual position offers flexible working arrangements that can be negotiated around your university commitments.

What this role looks like:  

• Assist in the planning, design and delivery of traffic and road safety projects.
• Undertake site inspections
• Analyse traffic data, crash statistics and road safety information.
• Assist with concept designs, technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Use engineering software including GIS and AutoCAD where required.
• Participate in stakeholder and community engagement activities.

What are we seeking in our new team member:

• Current enrolment as an undergraduate in Bachelor of Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Drivers License (Class C) - NSW
• White Card - General Construction Induction (desirable)
• Experience with AutoCAD (desirable)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sound organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
