About the role:

The Data & Integration Engineer plays a key role in designing, building, and operating reliable data ingestion and integration solutions that support improved decision-making, service delivery, and operational efficiency at Campbelltown City Council. As the primary technical owner of the Bronze layer within the Medallion Data Architecture, the role ensures raw data from business systems is securely and consistently ingested with appropriate lineage and metadata. Working closely with the Data & Analytics team, the position enables downstream transformation and reporting by delivering robust pipelines and well-structured integration patterns. It also serves as a critical technical liaison between Council, vendors, and internal stakeholders, while contributing to the development of modern, scalable data and integration capabilities, including APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-based platforms.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • An outcome-focused Data or Integration Engineer with strong experience delivering production data pipelines and integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience ingesting data from multiple disparate systems (SaaS, on-prem, cloud) into a central data platform or data warehouse
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, including Medallion (Bronze / Silver / Gold) patterns.
  • Hands on experience with data integration technologies, APIs, ETL/ELT tooling and orchestration frameworks.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi structured data.
  • Proven ability to collaborate closely with analytics teams to support downstream data transformation and reporting.
  • Experience working directly with vendors and non-technical stakeholders to resolve data and integration challenges.
