Description

Department:Warrumbungle Water

Reports to:Manager Warrumbungle Water

Salary Range:$71,647 - $83,265 per annum + superannuation

Looking to build a meaningful career in the water industry? We’re seeking a Water Technical Officer to support the delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant water and sewer services across the Warrumbungle region. This is an excellent entry-level to early career opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in water operations who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and contributing to essential community infrastructure.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in recording, analysing, and interpreting water operations data to support informed decision-making. Reporting is a critical component of the position—you’ll prepare clear, accurate, and compliant reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. You’ll also assist with monitoring, sampling, and water testing, combining office-based analysis with occasional field work (approximately one day per fortnight, depending on operational needs). Your ability to turn data into meaningful insights will directly support system performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

You’ll also contribute to minor operational investigations, troubleshooting issues across water and sewer systems, and supporting the delivery of small projects. If you’re interested in developing project skills, this role offers hands-on experience with guidance and training provided. A key responsibility includes administering liquid trade waste regulatory functions, including inspections, correspondence, and follow-ups—ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

Success in this role requires someone who can work independently with minimal supervision, while still supporting the broader team. Strong written communication and report writing skills are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders including field crews, contractors, and the community. If you’re analytical, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow your career in water and wastewater services, this is a fantastic opportunity to get started and develop your expertise.
