About the role
Council’s Environment and Resilience team is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative officer who is interested in facilitating improved environmental, social and economic outcomes through sustainable resource recovery solutions, behavioural change and circular economy principles.
This role is responsible for working with the Manager, Coordinator and staff to implement Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and Action Plans including projects and initiatives that result in leading and sustainable solutions.
This role will assist with the research, develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures, programs based on the principles of circular economy to transform Bayside City towards a circular economy future.

About you
If you are looking to make tangible positive changes to the Bayside Council community through waste management and working towards a circular economy, this is the role for you. The successful candidate will ensure that environmental, social and economic sustainability are at the forefront of all educational programs, projects and initiatives.
You can expect to:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate waste management projects and programs (including introduction of FOGO as mandated by the NSW Government) under the guidance of the Coordinator and/or Manager Environment & Resilience.
- Conduct research, surveys, audits, analytics and reporting on waste management and resource recovery.
- Contribute to the development of Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and Action Plans.
- Identify and develop new initiatives/measures to improve performance of waste management and resource recovery towards a circular economy.
- Identify, prepare, apply and implement waste management and resource recovery grants under the guidance of the Coordinator.
- Supervise projects and strategic initiatives to facilitate sustainable waste management, resource recovery and circular economy.
- Assist the Coordinator to develop the Community Environmental Education Program
- Implement and evaluate Community Environmental Education Programs in collaboration with the Environment and Resilience teams
We are looking for someone who has:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent recognised tertiary qualification in environmental management, environmental science, sustainability or related discipline with proven experience in delivery across similar areas.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively developing and supervising/managing projects within relevant fields, using an evidence based approach and/or economic modelling.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of waste avoidance and resource recovery,
- Sound knowledge of the waste and recycling industry, particularly as it relates to and impacts upon, the activities and responsibilities of local government.
- Proven experience in managing community and other stakeholder liaison and involvement.
- Sound knowledge and experience in community engagement and behaviour change with the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.

Salary range: $95, 477.88 - $106, 935.17, plus 11.5% superannuation.
