About the role
The City of Canning are seeking a motivated and reliable Waste Operator to join our Resource Recovery and Waste Transfer Station team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our facility, helping to ensure waste is managed efficiently and safely while maximising resource recovery opportunities.

A snapshot of your day-to-day duties:
- Machine sorting waste in the transfer station to recover items that can be diverted from disposal
- Operating front-end loaders, forklifts, tele-handlers and other plant and machinery, including minor maintenance and pre-starts
- White good collections, hook bin operations and waste transfers via walking floor semi-trailers
- Taking delivery of materials/consumables that are delivered to the facility, loading materials at the waste facility and managing stockpiles of waste
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised site
- Responding to and taking control of any incidents on site
Who we’re looking for:
- ‘HR’ class driver’s licence with proven experience
- Forklift license
- Extensive experience operating integrated tool carriers/front-end loaders, tele-handlers and other plant and machinery
- Reliable and enthusiastic - willing to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays
- Able to work independently (as well as in a team) and demonstrates initiative
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
