Waste Operator – Resource Recovery and Waste Transfer Station

About the role

The City of Canning are seeking a motivated and reliable Waste Operator to join our Resource Recovery and Waste Transfer Station team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our facility, helping to ensure waste is managed efficiently and safely while maximising resource recovery opportunities.

Working 8 days on / 6 days off, this is a full-time, permanent opportunity – if you want to be part of a thriving City with supportive leadership and great team culture, come and apply!

A snapshot of your day-to-day duties:

• Machine sorting waste in the transfer station to recover items that can be diverted from disposal
• Operating front-end loaders, forklifts, tele-handlers and other plant and machinery, including minor maintenance and pre-starts
• White good collections, hook bin operations and waste transfers via walking floor semi-trailers
• Taking delivery of materials/consumables that are delivered to the facility, loading materials at the waste facility and managing stockpiles of waste
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised site
• Responding to and taking control of any incidents on site

Who we’re looking for:

• ‘HR’ class driver’s licence with proven experience
• Forklift license
• Extensive experience operating integrated tool carriers/front-end loaders, tele-handlers and other plant and machinery
• Reliable and enthusiastic - willing to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays
• Able to work independently (as well as in a team) and demonstrates initiative
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
• Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
