We’re looking for a passionate and proactive individual who thrives on building community connections and supporting others. You’ll be a natural leader and communicator, confident in working with a diverse range of people including volunteers, community groups and stakeholders. With experience in community services or volunteer coordination, you’ll bring strong project management skills, digital know-how and a genuine enthusiasm for fostering a culture of volunteering. If you’re organised, collaborative and ready to make a positive impact across the Tamworth region, we’d love to hear from you.
The Volunteer Services Officer is responsible for:
- Resource and operate Council’s Volunteering Centre and website to support and facilitate volunteer recruitment, connection, registration, screening, induction and training;
- Lead and advise Council’s Volunteer Supervisors on volunteer management, leadership, compliance and training;
- Provide direct volunteer training and compliance support to Council’s Place Management Team volunteer programs;
- Plan and deliver multiple events annually which recognise and reward volunteers including regional Australia Day Awards for Barraba, Manilla and Nundle;
- Coordinate and deliver a quarterly volunteer newsletter recognising volunteer achievement and opportunities;
- Engage with State and Federal Government funding bodies to secure funding for volunteer related activities.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor Degree in Social Science or Community Services or similar tertiary qualification relevant to the functions of the position OR significant practical relevant experience
- Candidates with relevant practice skills and experience will be considered
- Understanding of the operating environment including promotion, encouragement and management of volunteers and youth opportunities within Tamworth Region
- Project and Event Management Skills
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Marketing Experience
- Leadership Skills
- First Aid Certificate
- Driver Licence

Salary range: Grade 14 - $81,821.22- $88,541.82 per annum including superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
