The Opportunity

Step into a vital role supporting the Infrastructure and Roads division across our regional network. As a Truck Driver (Truck Trailer), you will safely and efficiently operate Council truck and trailer combinations to support the delivery of road construction, maintenance and other civil works across the Moree Plains Shire. You will ensure the safe transportation of plant, equipment and materials to and from worksites.

Your daily tasks will involve undertaking daily pre-start inspections and routine checks of trucks and trailers, safely coupling and uncoupling trailers, safely loading, unloading and securing plant and materials for transport, and safely manoeuvring combinations within depots and worksites. You will also help maintain effective communication with the Superintendent and crew members regarding work progress, maintain accurate operational records including daily running sheets and logbooks, and ensure strict compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements including the Heavy Vehicle National Law.


About You

You are a safety-conscious, accountable, and efficient professional with a proven ability to work effectively as part of a construction or maintenance crew. You possess effective communication and interpersonal skills and the physical ability to safely operate plant for long periods while withstanding vibration and performing manual tasks.

To succeed in this role, you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience in the safe and competent operation of heavy vehicles and truck and trailer combinations within an operational environment.

  • Practical literacy and numeracy skills to accurately complete pre-start documentation, running sheets, and fuel records.

  • A sound understanding of work health and safety requirements and safe work practices associated with operating heavy vehicles.

  • A current Class HR (Heavy Rigid) Driver Licence or higher and a General Construction Induction White Card.

  • A successful pre-employment medical which may include drug and alcohol testing.

  • Current evidence of vaccination or immunisation for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus.

  • Desirable criteria include a Certificate III in Civil Construction and Traffic Controller Cards.
