The role
Responsible for the daily heavy-duty cleaning of Council waste fleet vehicles and wash bay facilities, ensuring compliance with industry and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards while supporting the overall cleanliness and presentation of the depot.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Preparing and implementing scheduled cleaning programs to ensure efficient and timely workshop operations.
- Operating waste collection vehicles, heavy plant, and equipment in accordance with safe operating procedures.
- Cleaning waste trucks and heavy machinery to industry and EPA standards, ensuring environmental compliance.
- Maintaining accurate workshop records and documented completed maintenance and cleaning activities.
- Identifying and reporting vehicle defects, faults, and safety hazards to support fleet reliability and workplace safety.
- Operating and transporting Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicles safely within depots and on public roads, including to inspection sites and workshops, while adhering to road rules, fatigue management, and defensive driving practices.

You will have
- Class HR Drivers licence
- High attention to detail with ability to work autonomously
- Experience with cleaning vehicles and plant using equipment and power tools
- Experience operating heavy waste vehicles including rear loaders and side loaders
- Knowledge and experience in the operations of waste and street cleansing activities and in equipment used to perform such activities
- Ability to identify and report heavy vehicle body defects and faults such as rust corrosion and seal leaks.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $61,112 - $71,022 (Grade A, Step1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
