Are you a keen learner with a natural flair for helping people? Do you have strong admin skills, a love of organisation, and a desire to build a meaningful career in Human Resources? This is your opportunity to start from the ground up with a supportive and experienced HR team that will train and mentor you as you learn the ropes. As our Trainee HR Support Officer, you’ll receive hands-on experience across a wide range of HR functions, from recruitment and onboarding to training and development. All while undertaking formal study towards a Certificate IV in Human Resources, fully supported by the organisation.
In this role, you’ll assist with everyday HR tasks such as updating employee records, drafting letters and contracts, helping coordinate interviews and inductions, and answering staff queries with professionalism and care. You’ll also get involved in key people initiatives—whether it’s supporting staff training programs, tracking compliance, or lending a hand with engagement and wellbeing activities. You’ll work with a tight-knit team that values curiosity, attention to detail, and a good sense of humour (essential for navigating the world of HR!).
This role is designed for someone at the beginning of their HR journey. We’re not looking for experience—we’re looking for attitude. You’ll need to be organised, reliable, and ready to take initiative, with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. You’ll also need to be comfortable handling sensitive information confidentially and following set processes with care. If you’re someone who takes pride in doing things properly and enjoys being part of a collaborative team, you’ll fit right in.

This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. The town has medical services, excellent schools, a variety of sporting and social clubs and a thriving tourism Industry. With the nearby Warrumbungle National Park, which is also Australia’s first Dark Sky Park, there is plenty to do and explore whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation.
Selection criteria include:
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
- Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) or Year 10 plus at least two years in the workforce
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable manner
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness and ability to undertake formal HR study as part of a traineeship (Certificate IV in Human Resources)
- Sound organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct
- Class C driver’s licence (P plates minimum)
