Trainee Environmental Health Officer OR Graduate Environmental Health Officer (Fixed Term Contract)

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee (currently studying in a relevant course) OR a recent Graduate (having graduated within the last 12 months) to join the team on a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. This role will provide the successful candidate with on-going training, ability to build on current skills sets and an opportunity to broaden your knowledge with exposure to all aspects of public and environmental health compliance related activities in both the built and natural environment.

What you will be assisting in:

• Investigation, assessment and resolution of customer requests lodged regarding environmental and public health matters;
• Undertaking inspections of businesses including activities related to public health matters such as food/skin penetration premises and public swimming pools;
• Assessment of S68 applications under Local Government Act such as onsite sewage management systems (operation & installation), structures within caravan parks and installation of solid fuel heaters;
• Review of Development Applications referred with consideration given to issues on environment and public health;
• Assessment of relevant technical reports and documents, in particular acoustic reports, onsite disposal of effluent, contamination/salinity, electromagnetic radiation and the like;
• Preparing standards, codes, information and fact sheets on various public health and environmental health matters;
• Development and promotion of community health and environmental educational materials and programs

What are we seeking in our new team member:

• Enrolment in, or recently completed tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or similar discipline;
• Relevant knowledge of matters relating to Environmental and Public Health
• Current Class C Drivers Licence

Position Details:

Trainee Environmental Health Officer

Salary Starting from $61K p.a. + Superannuation

Graduate Environmental Health Officer

Salary Starting from $72K p.a. + Superannuation
