Position Overview

The Technical Officer - Fleet plays a pivotal role within the Facilities and Fleet team, which is responsible for managing essential services related to fleet maintenance, procurement, and operational support. Reporting to the Coordinator Fleet, you will oversee fleet maintenance activities, ensure compliance with legislative standards, and provide technical expertise to stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include managing request management systems, scheduling work, monitoring outputs, and promoting a safe working environment.

In this role, you will also support the Fleet Coordinator during their absence, ensuring continuity of service and adherence to Council policies and safety legislation. Your ability to foster relationships with operational stakeholders and external vendors will be key to your success.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in fleet maintenance and management. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Trade Certificate (Cert 3) in a trade-related field (e.g., Automotive, Mechanical).
  • Current Driver's Licence and Construction Industry Certificate (White Card).
  • Supervisory experience in fleet maintenance services and contract management.
  • Proficient in relevant Codes, Standards, and Legislation (i.e. HVNL)
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget monitoring and control.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and MS Projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and council policies.

Desirable qualifications include a Cert IV and/or Diploma in Automotive, Mechanical, Engineering, Project Management, and/or Management. Familiarity with programs such as Once Council will be advantageous.
