The role
This role, Team Leader Leisure and Aquatic Operations is responsible for the efficient, effective, and sustainable management of Council’s Roselands Leisure & Aquatic Centre.
Overseeing daily operations in line with industry standards, including the Leisure & Aquatics Operations Manual, Royal Life Saving Society Guidelines, and NSW Practice Note 15.
The role involves supervising diverse staff and patrons, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality service delivery. Team Leaders also assist in training, technical guidance, and contribute to risk management and the implementation of the Unit Plan, while managing budgets and operational performance.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Led and support operations across Leisure & Aquatic Centres, ensuring financial sustainability, compliance with budgets, and continuous service improvement.
- Directed a diverse team, fostering a cohesive, safe, and high-performing workplace through coaching, performance planning, and competency development.
- Oversee daily facility operations, including supervision of pools, grounds, and public interactions, ensuring alignment with safety plans (SWP15, supervision plans, SOPs).
- Maintained regulatory compliance with NSW Health standards through rigorous water quality management and trained staff in plant, filtration, and equipment upkeep.
- Recruited, developed, and managed staff to deliver exceptional customer service and uphold the Leisure & Aquatic Services Charter.
- Collaborated with stakeholders including hirers, wellness teams, and maintenance units to deliver safe, clean, and engaging programs and experiences.
- Implemented preventative maintenance schedules with Asset Management to minimise disruptions and maintain high facility standards.
- Monitored and reported operational performance, responded to emergencies, and ensured accurate documentation and reporting across all areas of responsibility

You will have:
- Certificate III in Community Recreation or equivalent
- Pool Lifeguard Licence & Certificate
- Technical Operations Certificate (RLSSA, TAFE NSW or equivalent)
- Senior First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- A minimum 2 years’ experience in managing a similar leisure & aquatic facility.
- Experience in the planning and execution of operational, financial and people plans to successful outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in the management of Leisure and Aquatic Centre Operations or similar
- Demonstrated people leadership and management experience
- Demonstrated experience in accurately managing financial performance against budget
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking a risk management approach to aquatic facilities
- Highly developed communication skills.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $90,858 (Grade G, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
