ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

Reporting to the Team Leader Treatment and Mechanical Services, this position is responsible for supervising and coordinating Council’s Water and Wastewater Mechanical Services team to ensure the efficient, safe and reliable delivery of mechanical services that support the operation and maintenance of essential water and wastewater infrastructure.

This position plays a key role in leading daily mechanical operations, coordinating maintenance activities and providing technical guidance to staff. This hands-on leadership position offers the opportunity to motivate and develop a skilled workforce, promote a strong safety and service culture, and ensure mechanical services are delivered efficiently, effectively and in accordance with Council’s operational objectives, budget requirements, and environmental, quality and WHS standards.

To be successful you will bring

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of water & wastewater mechanical equipment and infrastructure including pumps, mechanical blowers, belt press, aeration equipment and screens.
  • Relevant trade qualification as a mechanical fitter.
  • Proven experience in the supervision of staff and contractors, including monitoring performance, coordinating worksite activities and training and development.
  • Proven good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy with experience and competence in computer and devices (e.g. tablets, iPhone) applications.
  • Willingness and ability to work on call in accordance with section requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of equal employment opportunity and work health and safety, risk, environmental and quality systems and an ability to apply them to work practices.

The rewards

  • An annual salary range of $73,600 to $84,500 (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
