Position Overview:

As the Supervisor of Operations - Parks and Environment, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating our outdoor workforce employees and town contractors. Under the guidance of the Coordinator of Parks and Environment, you'll lead efforts to efficiently accomplish maintenance and development tasks that contribute to the vibrancy of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

You will experience a diverse role working across all aspects of amenity development and maintenance functions including:

  • Lead Pre-start meeting and coordinate outdoor employees and town contractors to ensure timely completion of tasks/projects.
  • Schedule, supervise and implement Civil Works, Parks, Streetscapes and Environment maintenance programs and customer requests, ensuring adherence to safety, budget, quality standards and time timelines.
  • Responsible for safety management within the service, including compliance with MRWA Traffic Management standards, Safety Data Sheets, and Worksafe High-Risk Construction standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification and control measures.
  • Investigate and document accidents/incidents/near misses, ensuring close out of any investigations.
  • Ensure adherence to Job Safety Analysis and Safe Working Procedures.
  • Liaise with and provide input to civil works and public open space maintenance programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualification in horticulture, arboriculture or suitable experience in these areas.
  • Experience with supervision of outside staff and provide oversight of contractors to ensure compliance to project specifications Council’s policies, procedures and best practice activities
  • Pest Management Technician’s License
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • “C” Class Driver's Licence
