Description

Lead and supervise a dedicated team to ensure the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of Council’s water and sewer reticulation network, while driving service excellence, continuous improvement and rapid response to community needs.

About the role:

  • Lead the day-to-day supervision of staff to ensure the ongoing operation and maintenance of Council’s water and sewer reticulation assets, including mains, valves, reservoirs and service connections.
  • Allocate and schedule personnel, contractors and equipment for maintenance and operational tasks, while ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Promote high team performance by motivating staff, identifying training needs and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Undertake technical investigations, provide expert advice and support operational enhancements by communicating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster and coordinate emergency responses, while maintaining clear communication with internal teams, external contractors and community stakeholders.

We are seeking:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, or equivalent trade certificate relevant to the industry.
  • Significant demonstrated technical experience in water and wastewater networks, operations and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and coordinate teams effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A current driver's licence (car) and a solid commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards within the water industry.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
