Senior Strategic Planner
- Base salary up to $121,405.84 p.a. plus super plus potential to earn additional market rate allowance
- Fully maintained private use motor vehicle with onsite parking in Double Bay (or $10,780 vehicle allowance)
- 35 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO
- Potential to work from home up to two days per week
About the role
Woollahra Council has an exciting new opportunity available for a Senior Strategic Planner to join the team on a permanent full time basis.
You will join a collaborative team of multi-skilled professionals with town planning, heritage conservation and urban design skills. This team forms the Strategic Planning and Place Department and draws its projects and activities from Council’s Delivery Program and Operation Plan.
The Department is responsible for preparing and maintaining statutory planning documents such as planning proposals and local environmental plans as well as development control plans. These projects often involve detailed studies and investigations which include modelling of development outcomes, economic analysis and consultation with various stakeholders. Managing consultants for particular projects occurs from time to time.
An important aspect of the role will include presenting projects to Councillors, working parties and community groups.
About you
We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled individual who demonstrates previous experience with NSW planning legislation and is committed to delivering a high quality service to a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be a high achiever with:
- A tertiary qualification/s in either Town Planning or related field.
- Extensive skills and hands-on experience in the preparation, assessment and implementation of local environmental plans, development control plans, contributions plans, policies, and strategies
- A through working knowledge of, and experience with, NSW planning legislation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Skills and experience in the formulation and implementation of, and participation in, community consultation programs, including presentations to public forums.
- A proficiency in research and problem solving, providing clear concise recommendations for action within tight timeframes.
- The ability to provide creative input in the team operations.
- Time-management skills, with a particular ability to balance priorities.
- Well-developed skills in the use of PC office software such as Word, Excel and Power point.
- Current class C driver’s licence
