1 X Permanent, Full time - 35 hours, 5 days per week.

Salary: Competitive Salary

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Rates Officer to provide high-level support to the Rates Co-ordinator in the management of all Council’s rates, property information, and NAR functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing Council’s debt recovery functions with our external agency,
  • Pensioner concessions, validation and related subsidy claims,
  • Processing financial journals and transactions such as refunds and domestic waste charges,
  • Overseeing the issue of section 603 certificates,
  • Providing excellent customer service and guidance to both internal and external staff.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate high level experience working in Rates with excellent customer service, leadership and problem-solving skills. You will also need to demonstrate:

  • Substantial experience in Local Government Rating, with an understanding of council operations and community service standards.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Local Government Act 1993.
  • Experience in debt recovery processes, including court procedures and payment negotiations.
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills for accurate rate calculations and data reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with rating or finance systems (e.g., Infor/Pathways) and Microsoft products.
