Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Property Officer to join our Property Services team and play an important role in the professional management and utilisation of Council’s diverse property portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects and initiatives that make the best use of Council-owned and managed land and buildings, while helping to maximise property occupancy, rental income and community benefit.

About the role

You will be responsible for managing leasing and licensing activities, monitoring existing agreements, investigating opportunities to improve property utilisation and providing professional property advice to Council and management.

The role will see you working with a broad range of stakeholders, including Council staff, residents, solicitors, real estate agents, valuers, lessees, licensees and government agencies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage Council’s leasing and licensing activities in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Support the leasing, marketing and optimisation of Council’s property portfolio to maximise occupancy and returns.
  • Coordinate property projects from concept through to occupation.
  • Monitor leases and licences, including performance, payments, reviews and renewals.
  • Conduct property inspections, negotiations and investigations and respond to related enquiries and requests.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports and recommendations for Council and management.
  • Participate in tender panels, working groups and property-related projects.
  • Manage statutory property matters, including road closures, easements and road dedications.
  • Develop and improve property management processes and systems.
  • Ensure property activities comply with relevant legislation and Council requirements.
  • Undertake other property-related duties consistent with role, skills and experience.

About you

To be successful in this job you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in property, law or a related discipline, with significant experience.
  • Experience in property management, leasing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of leasing requirements and legal procedures, with practical problem-solving skills.
