The Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner leads a responsive, customer-focused team, working with leaders to deliver tailored, high-quality solutions aligned with Council’s health, safety and wellbeing strategies.
About the role:
- Act as a strategic partner and operational leader, providing expert guidance on all aspects of health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Lead the development, promotion, implementation, and review of Council’s health, safety, and wellbeing program, including the Health and Safety Management System, Injury Management strategies, and holistic wellbeing initiatives addressing physical, psychological, and overall health.
- Ensure legislative compliance and risk mitigation while promoting a proactive safety culture through innovative programs.
- Apply expert knowledge of WHS, workers’ compensation, and injury management, combined with best practice strategies.
- Drive cultural change and continuous improvement through technical excellence and proven program delivery.
- Use strong communication and influencing skills to build partnerships and embed a positive safety culture across the organisation.

We are seeking:
- Degree qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline, with proven experience in a similar role.
- An expert in Injury Management, with demonstrated capability in managing both compensable and non-compensable claims.
- A highly experienced WHS practitioner with a strong grasp of legislation, skilled in policy development, incident investigation, regulatory response and implementing best practice systems.
- A strategic thinker with a history of integrating health, safety and wellbeing programs that align with and support business objectives.
- A strong communicator with a proven ability to influence, resolve conflict, manage competing priorities and drive improvements in safety culture and performance.

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
