About the role
The Senior Facilities Manager, as part of the Building Services & Fleet unit at the City of Canada Bay, is responsible for overseeing the management, operation, and maintenance of Council’s diverse building facilities. This includes the Premier Recreation portfolio, comprising of two seasonal swimming centres and three recreation centres one of which is scheduled to open later this year. The role is pivotal in ensuring these facilities are safe, functional, and efficiently operated, while also driving improvements in customer service and user experience.
Some of the Key Accountabilities (not limited to):

Maintenance Management: Oversee and coordinate scheduled, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities. Manage contractors and vendors while working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and effective issue resolution.

Facilities Operations: Administer facilities systems including access control, Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting controls, CCTV, and other operational technologies.

Planning and Strategy: Partner with the Coordinator of Facilities Management to develop and execute strategic plans that align facilities management with community needs and organisational objectives. Work collaboratively across departments to ensure facilities adapt to changing requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders—including council teams, contractors, tenants, and community organisations—to address concerns, gather input, and align facility services with community expectations.

Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all facilities adhere to applicable codes, standards, and legal requirements. Coordinate inspections, manage permits, and maintain thorough regulatory documentation.

Budget Support: Assist in managing budgets related to facility maintenance by monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and use of equipment and supplies required for efficient facility operations and upkeep.
About the person
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in building facilities management, maintenance coordination, or a similar role is highly regarded.
It would be preferred for applicants to have the following:
- Relevant diploma in facilities management, engineering, building services, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA), relevant Australian Standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in facilities management
- Knowledge of sustainable practices in facilities management is an advantage.
- Skilled in the use of facility management software, as well as tools for data analysis and reporting
- Current Class “C” Drivers Licence
- Workcover accredited Construction Induction (White) Card
