About the role

The role of Senior Development Control Officer is responsible for controlling and regulating buildings, developments and land use in accordance with Council objectives and relevant planning legislation to protect and enhance the built and natural environment.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification in Town Planning, Building Surveying, Investigations or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in local government.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, the Local Government Act and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the parameters of both State and Federal legislation and regulations that relate to building, planning and the environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing accurate and professional advice to the public and intending developers in relation to major development, health and environmental policy and legislative matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting evidence in Court.
  • Proven ability to resolve complaints in a timely, assertive and diplomatic manner to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $103,563. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $119,987 on completion of assessment of skills and performance 11.5% superannuation + Private leaseback car 
  • We have a permanent full-time role available 
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight 
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role 
  • This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building
