Are you a proactive and enthusiastic risk professional who thrives on accuracy, collaboration and making a meaningful impact? We have an exciting temporary opportunity to join our Internal Audit Team as a Risk Coordinator, where you will play a key role in strengthening Council’s approach to risk management. In this varied and rewarding position, you will support the implementation of Council’s Risk Management system, develop and communicate practical risk policies and processes, manage external liability claims, and coordinate relevant liability insurance arrangements to help protect Council and our community.

The role of Risk Coordinator includes:
• Implement the risk based strategic risk management plan
• Manage complex insurance claims
• Liaise with the stakeholders concerning the insurance portfolio providing advice and reducing risk
• Manage the Councils risk management module/register and ensure accuracy.
• Prepare, coordinate and undertake investigations/reviews requested by internal or external bodies ensuring they are satisfying legislative and best practice requirements
• Proactively identifying cost effective enhancements to the portfolio to mitigate this risk.
• Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Council staff in relation to risk management issues.
• Report quarterly to stakeholders with respect to risk management strategies, including insurance.

What we are seeking in our new team member:
1. Degree in Commerce/Economics/Law or relevant
2. Post-Graduate or Diploma in Risk Management (Desirable)
3. RMIA Membership (Desirable)
4. Significant experience and knowledge in risk management, relevant legislation and the Australian Standards.
5. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the general insurance industry, including managing relationships with insurance brokers, understanding liability and litigation process and management of claims.
6. High level of initiative, leadership and authority concerning risk management and insurance
