About the Role
As a Ranger, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, order, and well-being of our community. Acting as an Authorised Officer pursuant to Part 9-6 of the Local Government Act 2019, you will enforce By-Laws, Legislation, and Council policies across a range of areas, including animal management, parking, and public spaces. This role will also involve responding to community complaints, conducting investigations, coordinating contractors, and assisting with legal proceedings.
This position requires a balance of fieldwork, administrative duties, and community engagement, including participating in education initiatives and carrying out on-call or after-hours responsibilities as needed.
About you
To succeed in this role, it is desirable to bring a Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or an associate field). You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, can liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders, and produce professional correspondence. You have strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve complex or sensitive issues.
You are confident in interpreting and enforcing NT legislation and policies and have the physical ability to complete animal-handling skills required to manage large dogs and related equipment safely. You are proficient in administrative tasks, including the use of Microsoft Office, and are willing to work a rotating roster that includes weekends and after-hours duties.
Experience working in cross-cultural environments, particularly with Indigenous communities, is highly valued.
