At Mid-Western Regional Council, we are seeking a motivated Property Trainee to join our Property division. This position offers a structured learning opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in property management within the context of local government operations. As a Property Trainee, you will assist in the effective administration and management of Council-owned land, facilities, and property assets, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

This role is perfect for individuals looking to build a career in property management, offering valuable exposure to local government property matters and practical experience in property economics, leasing, land acquisition, and more. The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $1,840.20 - $2,389.20 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $47,845.20 - $62,119.20 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) and long service leave after 5 years.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To assist the Property Coordinator and property division in the management of council’s diverse
    property portfolio, including commercial and residential property and Crown Reserves, including
    leasing licensing and rental reviews
  • To assist in the administrative, monitoring and technical support for land use, acquisition, utilisation
    and disposal of Council properties
  • To assist in the administrative, monitoring and technical support for the investigation and progression
    of road closures, openings, widening and acquisition
  • To assist in the administrative support for all other property matters
  • To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the
    Workplace Environment Statement

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Higher School Certificate (HSC) completion
  • General computer literacy including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and email
  • Good interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated and willingness to learn
  • Willingness and capacity to enrol and obtain a Certificate IV in Business and/or other equivalent relevant tertiary qualification, by distance education, part-time (Some subjects may have on-campus workshops where travel to the university will be required).
