The role
Are you passionate about driving consistent project outcomes and supporting strategic delivery across a complex organisation? Join MidCoast Council as our new Project Management Officer and help shape the future of our region through governance and continuous improvement in project delivery.
As our Project Management Officer you will take a leading role in embedding and refining Council’s Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, ensuring it aligns with our organisational Project Management Framework (PMF) and continues to support our strategic objectives. You’ll oversee how the project management framework is applied across diverse departments and projects of varying complexity, and provide reporting that balances individual project nuances with the need for consistent organisational oversight. You will also provide expert advice on contract management practices, including industry-standard documents such as AS4000 and GC21, helping to ensure projects comply with legal and procurement requirements.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Project Management, Engineering, or possess equivalent experience in relevant industries. You will have proven experience managing and enhancing Project Management Frameworks and lifecycle management tools, along with a successful track record of delivering infrastructure or corporate projects. Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills are essential, including experience in staff training. Excellent written skills are required to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences. Experience in business process improvement and change implementation is important, as well as a collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and influence stakeholders toward a shared vision.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $94,560 p.a. plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience).
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
