  • Salary: $102,842 - $117,191 gross p.a. plus 11.5% Super plus 3.5% civil liabilities allowance
  • 35 hours per week with the option of flexitime / Monday to Friday
  • Natural Disasters Office, Stuart Place, Nowra

About the Role
This role undertakes project management for a wide range of infrastructure projects across the Shoalhaven area, ensuring timely delivery, cost, scope, benefits, and risk tolerances. They also execute the planning and delivery of Capital Works and Maintenance projects, covering all phases from options assessments and design to cost estimating, procurement, tendering, construction, and commissioning.

Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager - Civil, the main duties of this role include:

  • Contribute to the promotion of a professional image of Shoalhaven City Council by providing professional/specialist advice to the Technical Services Team to ensure the delivery of quality, accurate, and timely responses to the community.
  • Manage, and deliver at various stages, the planning, evaluation, estimates, design, and construction of a wide variety of infrastructure projects.
  • Preparation and implementation of WHS and Risk Management, Environmental Quality Management Plans (REF, SWMP), traffic control plans, Safe Work Method Statements.
  • Preparation of Briefs and tenders/quotations for the engagement of consultants and contractors and material supply.
  • Preparation of Project Management Plans.
  • Preparation of technical standards and maintaining quality control.
  • Arrange site surveillance of works to monitor technical, quality, environment and work health and safety compliance.
  • Collate as-constructed documentation and financials to be handed over for entry into Assets database

Projects and Asset types may include, but is not limited to, roads and road related infrastructure, drainage, kerb & gutter, bus shelters, footpaths / cycleways / walking tracks, parking areas, traffic facilities, bridges, boat ramps, fences, recreational facilities, seawalls, viewing platforms, parks & reserves and flood mitigation assets, etc.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


About You

To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction management or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience in the design and construction of Civil Engineering projects, particularly stormwater drainage, road construction and road rehabilitation works.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the development and management of Contracts for Civil Engineering projects, including contract preparation, procurement and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a civil construction project from concept to completion. i.e. liaison with the client, preparation of construction documentation, preparation of detailed cost estimates, control and monitoring of time, cost and quality.
  • Current NSW General Construction Induction card (white card) or acceptable interstate alternative
  • Minimum NSW Class C driver's licence or equivalent licence valid in NSW
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
