About the role

The Pound Operations Officer supports daily operations of the Animal Management Facility, ensuring animals are cared for in a safe, clean, and humane environment. The role assists Ranger Services through facility maintenance, animal care, customer service, administrative tasks, coordination with rescue groups, and support for animal rehoming. The position helps achieve positive animal welfare outcomes, efficient operations, and high-quality service to the community.

Duties

Key
responsibilities include:

  • Animal Care & Welfare:Provide daily care for animals (feeding, watering, exercise, wellbeing monitoring), assist with behavioural observations, identify and report health concerns, and support safe handling, transport and rehoming outcomes.
  • Pound Operations:Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the facility, complete cleaning, laundry and waste duties, monitor and order supplies, manage inventory, and ensure animal housing is safe and compliant.
  • Customer Service & Administration:Deliver professional customer service, assist with enquiries, reclaims and adoptions, conduct meet and greets, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with staff and external stakeholders.
  • Operational Support:Support daily pound operations, assist with rescue partnerships and livestock care, provide administrative backup, and perform other duties as required.

Who we

To be
considered for this position, you will need:

  • Experience working with animals in a pound, kennel, veterinary, agricultural, rescue or animal care environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to safely handle domestic animals including dogs and cats.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Ability to undertake physically demanding work including cleaning,lifting and animal handling.

  • Basic computer and administration skills.

  • Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
