ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
We are looking for a passionate and hardworking Parks Operator to join our team at Singleton Council. In this role, you’ll make a real impact on the everyday lives of people within our community by achieving important outcomes for Singleton to grow and flourish.
In your role you will contribute to important community outcomes and making a real impact for Singleton. The natural diversity of your role means that every day will be different. Your role will include responsibility for assisting the team leaders in ensuring parks and reserves are maintained in accordance with service level requirements and to schedule.
The role will include:
- To carry out maintenance, minor construction and cleaning in parks, sports fields, reserves, garden beds and public land such as grass cutting, edging and manual excavation and construction works to schedules and as directed, in an effective and efficient manner and to adopted Council standards of quality.
- Operate a variety of plant and equipment for the maintenance of open space areas including push mowers, whipper snipers, lawn edgers, ride on lawn mowers, out-front mowers, etc.
- Ensure all plant, including small plant, and equipment is operated safely, effectively, efficiently and within manufacturer’s guidelines, Council policies, practices and work instructions.
- Provide quality customer service to internal staff and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner
- Completion and provision of accurate documentation and reporting forms including timesheets, hazard report forms, WHS documentation and forms.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Certificate II in Horticulture or related field with industry experience or extensive experience in parks maintenance, general horticultural practices and construction and landscaping techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work in small teams to ensure duties are performed to set standards and within established timeframes.
- Demonstrated experience operating parks maintenance related small plant and equipment
- Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain accurate written and computerised records, undertake calculations and complete forms
- A commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers of Council
This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight on a team based flexible working arrangement of a 9-day fortnight.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 5 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $58,309 - $65,590 per annum plus superannuation.
