About the Role

Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Delivery, you'll provide strategic leadership across Council's Plant, Fleet and Buildings portfolio.

This diverse leadership role oversees Council's fleet operations, workshops, buildings, depots, stores and property assets, ensuring they're managed safely, efficiently and sustainably.

You'll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering operational excellence while driving continuous improvement, long-term asset planning and capital investment across Council's built environment.

From overseeing major building projects to modernising fleet management practices and improving operational efficiencies, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the services Council delivers to the community.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Council's Plant, Fleet and Buildings team to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused services.
  • Managing Council's fleet lifecycle, including acquisition, utilisation, maintenance and replacement planning.
  • Overseeing Council's operational facilities including depots, administrative buildings, saleyards and caravan park.
  • Delivering Council's capital works program for buildings and facilities from planning through to completion.
  • Managing Council's property portfolio including the land register, Crown Land, Native Title matters and rural addressing.
  • Providing strategic oversight of Council's stores operations, procurement and inventory management.
  • Developing operational strategies that improve efficiency, service delivery and value for money.
  • Contribute to the development of the Directorate's annual operational and delivery programs, ensuring alignment with Council's strategic plans.

About You

You're a collaborative leader who enjoys solving operational challenges, improving systems and delivering practical outcomes.

You have experience leading diverse operational teams and understand how strategic asset management, project delivery and operational planning combine to deliver excellent services to the community.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Facilities Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex operational or infrastructure services.
  • Proven experience delivering projects from planning through procurement to completion.
  • Strong financial, contract and resource management capability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams while driving continuous improvement.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety and organisational excellence.

Experience in Local Government, postgraduate qualifications or an IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate will be highly regarded.
