  • Salary from $168,668 to $196,020 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation plus applicable travel/car allowances.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring Council’s infrastructure and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and value. Reporting to the Director, City Presentation and Infrastructure, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver maintenance programs, capital works, and operational services that directly impact the community.

You will also play a key role in emergency management as Council’s Deputy Local Emergency Management Officer, supporting preparedness and response activities.

About the Role

  • Lead and manage infrastructure maintenance, capital works, and asset management programs across Council.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of public domain assets, facilities, fleet, and plant.
  • Ensure Council buildings and operational sites are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
  • Manage contracts and service delivery arrangements to achieve value for money and high performance outcomes.
  • Drive business and operational planning aligned to Council’s strategic priorities.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure financial sustainability and delivery.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with internal teams, contractors, government agencies, and the community.
  • Act as Deputy Local Emergency Management Officer, supporting emergency preparedness and response.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, risk management, and compliance.
  • Drive innovation, technology adoption, and continuous improvement across services.
  • Provide clear reporting and advice to senior leadership on performance, risks, and program delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure maintenance, capital works delivery, and asset management.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex operational environments.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and infrastructure delivery models.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, safety requirements, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement across government, contractors, and community.
  • Ability to lead in dynamic environments, balancing operational priorities, risk, and community expectations.

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Experience or training in emergency management or disaster response coordination.
