ABOUT THE ROLE
Council is currently seeking a practical, safety-focused Civil Works Labourer to join our Traffic South crew, based in Biggenden. As part of Council’s Construction & Maintenance team, you will help deliver new roadworks and maintain critical infrastructure across the southern part of the North Burnett region.
Your day-to-day will include road and drainage works, setting up safe traffic control zones, and operating a variety of tools and equipment. This is a physical, outdoor role where no two days look the same, however what stays consistent is the sense of purpose and teamwork.
You will be joining a supportive and dedicated crew that values a strong work ethic, good communication, and doing the job right the first time. This role plays an important part in keeping our local roads and community infrastructure safe, reliable and up to standard.
ABOUT YOU
You are a reliable, safety-conscious team player who is comfortable working outdoors in all conditions. You take direction well, operate with care around plant and equipment, and take pride in contributing to practical, on-the-ground outcomes for your community.
To be considered for this role, you will need to bring:
- A current ‘C’ Class driver’s licence
- A valid Construction Induction (White Card)
- Traffic Management Implementation Program licence
- Traffic Control Industry Authority
- The physical ability to carry out manual labour in hot and noisy conditions
- A positive approach to teamwork and safe work practices
- Good communication skills and basic literacy, numeracy, and computer/device use
- A willingness to undertake training and follow Council procedures
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment medical assessments, including drug and alcohol screening, to confirm fitness to safely perform the role
It would also be advantageous if you have:
- HR Class licence or higher
- Civil construction experience, ideally within a local government setting
- Verified competency operating machinery like chainsaws, rollers, or loaders
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Or are currently studying towards a relevant qualification
