About the opportunity

Here at Council, we own and operate a childcare business, Kids’ Early Learning, with a portfolio of 31 childcare centres and over 40 family daycare educators.

Kids’ Early Learning has approximately 300 full-time, part-time and casual staff, and operates throughout the Blacktown local government area, serving over 2000 families and providing care and learning needs for their children.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Blacktown City Council as our Education and Quality Lead. In this role you will lead the development, design and implementation of a whole of business approach for Kids’ Early Learning (KEL) branded pedagogical programs to meet the objectives of KEL in accordance with Operational Plans and legislation, which includes inspiring, coaching and mentoring all KEL staff in the provision of quality Early Childhood curriculum and pedagogy in line with National Quality Framework (NQF), Early Learning Years Framework (ELYF), current research and innovative practices.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education
  • Solid experience in Early Childhood Education 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in leading teams with their assessment and rating process
  • Experience in working with educational leaders at different services
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting) 
  • Current Working with Children Check number
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen as well as coach, mentor and reflect with the educational and management team 
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of the NQF and the EYLF Belonging, Being and Becoming and My time, Our place framework
  • Class C Drivers Licence. 

Desirable:

  • Masters in Educational Leadership 
  • Demonstrated ability to think ahead and be able to provide a plan for the future
  • Demonstrated experience and success in people management and the ability to build on current strengths within teams and individuals whilst addressing development opportunities and concerns 
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of theories and practices; ability to read widely and share this information with educators in ways that are understood and translatable into practice
  • Above average computer skills.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,008.32 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Car allowance
