The Junior Development Engineer works closely with experienced team members and under their guidance will undertake tasks such as assessing, reviewing and determining the engineering aspects of developments/development applications/plans and design works. Using your strong communication skills you will also be assisting the section with professional advice to stakeholders under guidance and preparation of detailed reports on engineering matters, along with the assessment of any other engineering issues/problems as they arise within the team/section. 

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Under guidance, undertake assessment and determination of engineering and associated aspects of Development Applications and the determination of appropriate engineering conditions of consent
  • Under guidance, provide professional advice on the assessment and determination of engineering designs for civil works
  • Use your problem solving skills and analytical thought processes, for assessment of development applications and planning issues/problems.

Essential criteria:

  • Completing Civil Engineering degree (3rd/4th yr) OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in Development Engineering
  • Current Class C or Provisional P1 or Ps Driver’s Licence
  • Knowledge related to civil engineering design and land use development and a general knowledge of development and environmental planning
  • An understanding and/or interpretation codes, policies and precures related to civil engineering for land use development;
  • Exposure to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, the Roads Act and the Local Government Act is required together with an awareness of other related environmental and planning legislations/regulations 
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, credible relationships and influence, persuade or negotiate outcomes that add value to the organisation
  • Understanding and knowledge to assess and interpret information to formulate recommendations and provide specialist advice to enable the organisation to achieve quality outcomes.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $69.5k to $83.4k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 11% superannuation.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
