Are you an experienced mechanic looking for variety, technical challenges and the opportunity to work on a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles and plant equipment?
We're looking for two skilled Heavy Vehicle and Plant Mechanics to join our Fleet and Depot Services team, with one position based in Dubbo and one position based in Wellington.
In this role, you'll be responsible for servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of Council's extensive fleet of heavy vehicles, mobile plant, light vehicles and specialised equipment. You'll split your time between workshop-based maintenance and field service work, including responding to breakdowns and supporting operations across the region.
Using your diagnostic expertise and industry knowledge, you'll troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, helping to minimise downtime and maximise the reliability of critical Council assets.

You’ll make an impact by:
- Diagnosing, servicing and repairing Council's fleet of heavy vehicles, mobile plant and associated equipment to keep essential services operating effectively
- Working autonomously across various locations
- Effectively communicating with different levels of the organisation
- Fostering good teamwork and high staff morale within the team, including supervision of apprentices
- Ensuring high-quality standards of workmanship
What you'll bring:
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Recognised trade qualification as a Heavy
Vehicle Mechanic or Plant Mechanic; or a recognised Light Vehicle Mechanic
qualification with demonstrated experience in the servicing, diagnosis and
repair of heavy vehicles and/or mobile plant. - Demonstrated post trade experience in servicing,
fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of heavy vehicles and/or mobile
plant, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems. - Ability to use computer-based systems relevant to
workshop operations, including Council’s fleet management system, electronic
job cards and diagnostic systems. - We would also love you to have:
- Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate.
- Current RMS Motor and Heavy Vehicle Inspection Authority
- Relevant additional licences, qualifications or
skills such as forklift operation, automotive air-conditioning and welding. - Class HR Driving Licence, or
willingness to obtain.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $80,310 to $93,333 ($40.86 to $47.05) per hour plus superannuation and allowances
