The Role

As the Head of City Sport Maintenance at Georges River Council, manage and oversee all operational and maintenance activities relating to Council’s sport and recreation facilities including operations relating to sports turf management of Stadium, Tier 1 Turf Fields, Tier 2 Synthetic Fields and Tier 3 Turf Fields, Golf Course maintenance, programmed and reactive sports building maintenance, sports court maintenance and aquatic facilities maintenance.    

  • Manage operational functions and maintenance of sports fields and buildings
  • Deliver annual operating expenditure ($2.8M) and capital works program ($1.0M) on-budget and on-time
  • Lead and mentor a team of 20 FTE employees for maintenance of various sports facilities
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring team safety and adherence to WHS requirements
  • Implement and maintain sports turf management programs for various fields
  • Provide strategic advice and contribute to community infrastructure assessments
  • Develop and maintain asset management plans for aquatic facilities
  • Implement and maintain golf course management and improvement plans
  • Manage programmed and reactive maintenance for sports and aquatic facilities
  • Oversee contractors for sports infrastructure and facilities
  • Identify and implement innovative turf management practices
  • Drive efficiency, continuous improvement, and build strong relationships with stakeholders

 

What We Offer

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Business or relevant demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities management and/or sports turf management
  • Demonstrated understanding of asset management systems and technology
  • Current ‘C’ Class NSW Driver’s license
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card), or ability to attain
  • Demonstrated experience managing complaint internal and external service provision, with a focus on achieving customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated experience managing local government assets, specifically sport infrastructure and sports turf
  • An understanding of risk assessment procedures and the management of Work Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse, remote team, promoting an environment to achieve team, and broader business objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor management  
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and preparing documents including reports, policies, briefs, specifications, tenders and grant applications
  • Solid experience with forward works programming, financial control and budget preparation
  • Excellent communication skills along with superior negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices and EEO principles
