Narromine Shire Council covers an area of 5264 km2 and has a population of approximately 6444 in the rural townships of Narromine, Trangie & Tomingley and the surrounding rural areas. Narromine is located 40km from the regional city of Dubbo.

About the position

Narromine Shire Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for the position of Grounds Keeper - Recreational Services. 

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the sporting fields within the Narromine Shire Council area.

The Grounds Keeper Recreational Services will also assist the Supervisor Recreational Services in the maintenance and servicing of all other areas of Councils recreational facilities including but not limited to parks, sporting ovals, gardens, town approaches, urban drainage and cemeteries in Narromine, Trangie and Tomingley.

The Grounds Keeper Recreational Services will assist the Supervisor Recreational Services in providing leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team of workers and to ensure work is scheduled and carried out in a timely and professional manner.

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • Class ‘MR’ drivers license
  • General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

It will be desirable for you to have: 

  • Certificate IV in Horticultural practices, turf care or equivalent qualifications or experience
  • Chemcert certificate
  • Workzone Traffic Control -Traffic Controller
  • Workzone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan
  • Level I Chainsaw Operators certificate of competency
  • Backhoe/Loader competency
  • Experience in street sweeping operations.
  • First Aid Certificate

The details relating to this position are:

  • The position is graded 8 within Council's salary structure
  • The salary range is from $60,756 - $68,720 per annum plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment. 
  • 38 hour working week applies. NSC has a RDO system whereby every second Monday is a rostered day off.
  • Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
